Women tend to use substances for different reasons than men. Risk factors such as low self-esteem, peer pressure, and depression can make women more vulnerable to substance use as well as addiction. Research has also shown that physical and sexual trauma followed by post-traumatic stress disorder PTSD is more common in drug-abusing women than in men seeking treatment.
Counseling is conducted in an environment of trust and safety, where a woman's voice is heard and respected. We believe in the right and dignity of recovery for every woman.
The work to build a new life of sobriety is quite different for each woman. Women receiving treatment at MFI's women's treatment center in San Jacinto are provided with comprehensive and individualized on-site services to help them achieve their recovery goals. MFI centers are accredited and structured programs in an environment of trust and safety. We offer residential treatment, as well as outpatient alcohol and drug rehab for women who may be constrained by professional or family responsibilities.
Our counselors and therapists work with each woman to understand the unique personal reasons for their drug and alcohol abuse. La Vista believes that the mature years are the season of reflection and deep personal work.
