The learning development opportunities inspire me to think outside the box but having support and guidance from my manager and team has enabled me to grow and learn to adapt to new challenges.
One of the highlights of my first rotation has been the opportunity to have one-on-one meetings with the ICT Leadership Team. This opportunity has provided me with invaluable insight and advice that I will keep in mind as I continue to develop my skills through the various rotations offered in the program and aspire to producing meaningful contributions on team projects for RACV.
I am fortunate to be offered to enrol in this graduate program provided by RACV and set off my career with the company of enlightened and experienced mentors and colleagues. As a Commerce and Science graduate majoring in Marketing and Immunology , I was still unsure about the direction of my career path.
It offered various rotations, non-specific to a stream. Perfect, I thought and with that, I applied for it. A few months down the track and after several interviews, I was officially offered the privilege to be part of the RACV Graduate Program. On my first day, I was nervous but excited to embark on this new journey. I was welcomed by our lovely coordinator who met us at the lobby and introduced everyone. We took the elevator to level 9 of Bourke St and commenced our two-week induction where managers from all the different departments spoke about their roles.
As we walked through the contemporary office, we were welcomed and greeted by friendly smiles throughout the organisation. With the slight fear that it would be finance based, the team have been supportive to say the least and mentored me throughout the rotation. It has only been a short 3 months, but the experience has been a challenging yet fulfilling one. Funnily enough, the majority of the team is made up of previous RACV graduates which was comforting because they were once in my shoes.
I look forward to exploring more opportunities and challenges and to discover what my future holds at RACV. The generalist nature of the program provides the chance to discover where my skillset is best suited within the company across four rotations.
Since joining the team at RACV, my perspective and opinion has been encouraged and welcomed. I have added value to some of the many diverse projects and initiatives that are being delivered across the company. My leaders and mentors are constantly providing me with opportunities to overcome challenging situations, to expand my professional network and to develop my knowledge and understanding of how the business operates. One of my favourite parts of the Graduate Program has been sharing each moment — both struggles and successes — with other graduates, past and present.
The corporate culture at RACV of innovation, courage and community is like nothing I have experienced; making you feel valued, accepted and supported. I am excited to see what opportunities and challenges await as my journey continues with RACV. Studying a business degree set me up on a number of career paths and upon graduating from RMIT, I was unsure on which path I would want to go down exactly going forward. Reading the description on the RACV grad program webpage, amongst the testimonials from other previous grads who had landed a job at RACV, I realised how beneficial this program could be for me.
My first rotation is in the Home Division, and more specifically with the Energy team. I was welcomed into the team by all the staff and felt very comfortable in the early stages when I was settling into the team. My rotation manager has been of great help in guiding me to take over initiatives and build some confidence in the corporate workplace environment. Even people in other divisions have shown an interest in me and have brought up the idea of grabbing a coffee for a social chat to break up your day in the office, which just speaks great company culture.
The offices at Bourke Street are state of the art, and the workplace setting is very inviting towards collaboration between staff. The other graduates from previous years have built a strong bond with me and other members of the graduate cohort and we truly appreciate their guidance in our early stages of the program. I am very much looking forward to my other rotations and growing as an RACV employee to deliver on exciting new company initiatives in the near future.
What excited me about being a part of the RACV Graduate Program was that I would be able to rotate across many parts of the business developing new skills and learning more about myself and where I want to be in the future. I have been heavily involved in the Eagle House Project and over time have been given opportunities to take on greater responsibilities and be a part of the decision-making process.
The variety offered in the program seemed the perfect way to kick start my career, combining my passion for hospitality with my learnings from university in a hands on, practical manner.
I anticipated an exciting and fast paced 12 months, full of new experiences and challenges, constant learning and hard work and it has exceeded my expectations thus far. I have just completed my first rotation with the Club Membership team and have been overwhelmed by the positive culture of RACV, and the welcoming and supportive nature of everyone I have met and worked with.
Right from the beginning I have felt comfortable and like a valued member of the team, I have been trusted to run projects and have been instilled with confidence. I am very excited to see what my future at TACV holds and low forward to the remainder of the program and the future challenges and experiences that it will bring. My first rotation has been with the Corporate Responsibility team. Our graduate coordinators and my fellow grads have also been a great source and network to ask questions and gain fresh perspectives from.
