Friday, February 5, PM. Well, I don't know. I have never tried or worked through that method so hopefully RpCahoon can answer that question for you or someone else that has tried it. I have no way to test that at the current time. Well, Al Jarvi, thanks, both for your answer and your referral. I went back to RpCahoon's reply, and followed his suggestion to play with various options while being in a command prompt mode.
I tried the combination "rasdial connection-name user password" and it worked perfectly. Still, when I included this same combination to the scheduled task specification, the unit didn't step further than letting my hit "connect". I wonder if anyone has a tip or a testing suggestion. Monday, February 8, AM. Hi, Do you mean that you want to logon via the VPN connection?
If so, please also try this: 1. Wednesday, February 10, AM. Hi, Thank you for your update. Tuesday, February 16, AM. Did you install the latest modem driver? Also, please check if this handheld radio modem is compatible with Windows 7.
Wolfgang Thanks for your reply. I'll explain exactly what I do, or did via windows XP before I 'upgraded'. I use the laptop as a tool for communicating with a lot of rs based equipment, as well as newer equipment. In this instance I connect a laptop thru a dial-up connection to a handheld radio acting as a modem in order to transmit small data files. Unfortunately there is a need as part of the connection procedure for the user to type "ato" to force the radio modem into data mode.
The issue I have is that ticking this box to indicate that I wish a terminal window to appear after the connection has been setup is not working, ie the window does not appear so the user cannot force the radio modem into data mode. This terminal mode is not the same as using PuTTY or Procomm etc, it is part of interactive logon which is sometimes required. I've now reverted to WinXp for the time being as this is not the only issue we have with Win7 eg compatibility with older programs that work quite happily under WinXP, and yes I have tried compatibility modes.
Overall I'm very dissapointed with Win7. Then it is not correct to create a "direct connection via serial cable" dialup connection. Instead you have to create a dialup connection via modem.
